Feedback from meeting

The following was discussed:
  • Groups presenting their research need to set up before 8:30
  • Research groups will be notified on their topics well in advance, extending their research time
  • A break-down of the topic will be available to the whole class and this becomes the marking criteria
  • Research needs to focus on technical information, giving cultural/historical data only if it is relevant
  • The whole class need to read up on the topic before the presentation

Other points...on reflection:

The general feedback I am getting is a dissatisfaction with the quality of research. If this is the case, why are the marks that you are awarding reflecting highly competent presentations?

I am yet to receive a comment with your name and blog link (have got one from Gienevieve!)... If I don't get them this week I have nothing to mark.

Poor attendance and late arrival.... deal with it!

Please answer the following questions by Thursday 10 March:
  • Define; Learner/learning
  • Define;Teacher/teaching
  • What motivates you to learn?
  • How do you learn?
  • How do you know you undestand something?
The following learners will be doing research on Molds and Mass-production; Hanna Ewers, Ross Malgraff and Lindy Hallack

This is the out-line for reasearch and the marking criteria:

Definition of molds and mass-production
Model, define, what can they be made of?
Molds
  • rubber
  • packing
  • vulcanising (describe entire process)
  • cutting
  • injecting wax

Learner - a person who is learning something.
Learning - knowledge obtained by study.
Teach - give a person knowledge or skill: train.
Teacher - a person who teaches others.

It motivates me to learn things when I need it to do something or to understand a concapt.

I learn something by using visual information and an explination with it.

When I understand something I can explain it in my own words and using visual information to understand it better.

Learner is someone, no matter the age of the individual, who seeks to be educated. So basically, it is an individual who seeks answers, (wants to braoden their sphere of knowledge).

A teacher for me is simply someone who is there to aid a learner, and answer the questions where they can, but at the same time they can also be learning from the learner and surroundings.

Well I can't handle not knowing, and having pending unanswered questions. But aslo cause I want to be something in life with a braod understanding of things, and not just an ignorant individual.

I learn by reading, mainly, but in special cases i tend to lean more towards visual learning. But also the fact that I can be very talkative and I like mingling with people, I tend to pick up a lot of information that way.

Simple, when I can't stop rambling off about it, and I'm confident enought o engage in a debate or conversation about it.

A learner is someone who aims to learn something.

Learning is the process you go by to learn in most cases there exsists an individual choice of style.

Teaching to me is explaining something to someone such that they can understand it and if explaination is beyond one's capability, then one must equip their sublect with the tools to go and find out.

A teacher to me is someone who facilitates the learning process. Essentially to me this is the person who steers your reseach in the right direction because everything we come across is so broad

I have a natural curiosity to make sense of the world around me, if i do not understand how something i come across works then i make it a point to find out

I learn best through reseach, discussion and some form of visual reference point.

I know i know something when i can explain it to someone else in a way that they too can understand it.
